I actually finished this one ages ago. It’s the first sweater I knit. As of yet, it is the only one, but the next is getting there!
I meant for this sweater to be for me. But then I somehow lost a few inches in the length (impatience of a new knitter, methinks) and didn’t check the sizing in the pattern. Therefore, I made what I wear–a small. However, that turned out more than two inches short in the chest area, and at least three inches shorter, lengthwise, than I am comfortable in. And I am comfortable in some pretty tiny tops.
Here is where I found it today: On the cat scratching post. Where my little sister tossed it after school.
Since I didn’t know I was making it for her, the sleeves are way too long for her little kid arms. Unfortunately, I have no picture of her in it, despite the fact that she wears it a fair amount. She likes it because it is warm and snuggly.
Pattern: It’s a cardi from the “The Yarn Girl’s Guide to Simple Knits.” I don’t remember which. I’ll get it and edit here!
Yardage: Slightly less than 500 yards, I believe.
I am in *love* with the buttons.
The buttonholes didn’t totally line up with the buttons, but hey, it’s a first sweater. And the kid doesn’t notice. She doesn’t notice if she walks out of the house with one shoe.
So, it’s not perfect. But I like it, and so does the recipient. That’s what matters, right?
